Diane McClary: Desert Verbena

A favorite subject for many artists are flowers….in vases, on the table, and in fields. In this video Diane goes en plein air to paint a landscape that includes a field of desert verbena.

• Simplification: How to capture the essence and definition of clumps of flowers/bushes without resorting to painting every petal and leaf.
• Composition: How to improve your composition by including objects that do not exist in the scene, but can be pulled from other places around you.
