Carl Dalio: Gold and Perfume

Dancing with the Brush is a series created by artist Carl Dalio where he demonstrates his entire painting process set to music. He designed the videos to inspire and encourage students' own imaginative discoveries and interests. Each video includes a beautiful collection of uplifting music scores- without boring artist commentary!

In his studio, artist Carl arranges some of his favorite items for a live session of watercolor painting. Selecting glass and pottery pieces for shape, texture, reflections and color, he uses lighting sources to indicate form and shadows and to activate the scene. First, Carl composes and simplifies the subject with an initial pencil drawing and then sets out on his painting adventure. With bold color and attention to subtle temperature cues, Carl charges forward to reveal the intimate vitality within this quiet configuration.
