This week’s watercolor tip comes from Michael Holter’s "7 Steps to Watercolor Landscapes."
If you want to create a sense of sunlight in your trees, it can be as easy as adding a drop of warm color. For Michael, his go-to color is Quinacridone Gold. He drops this into trees (when the tree paint is still wet) where he wants to give a sense of sunlight.
A little hue variation can go a long way. So the next time you want to make it seem like a tree is being hit with sunlight, drop in a little Quinacridone Gold and watch it warm.
